Tyler Gibbons is a composer and musician living in Southern Vermont. He studied music at Harvard University, and is a co-founder of the indie-folk band Red Heart the Ticker. Tyler has performed around the US from tiny coffee houses to Colorado's Red Rocks amphitheater, appeared on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion, been profiled on NPR's Weekend Edition, and garnered songwriting praise from The New York Times and Pitchfork Media.
Gibbons composes musical scores for feature-length documentaries, shorts, non-profit videos, and art films, and teaches songwriting in both academic and workshop settings.

Tyler Gibbons is a composer and musician living in Southern Vermont. He holds a BA from Harvard University, with a focus on music and English and American Literature.
Gibbons has scored numerous feature films, feature-length documentaries, shorts, non-profit videos, and art films, including The Forest for the Trees (Red Bird Films, official selection, Human Rights Watch International Film Festival, Sundance Channel), Senses of Place (Temple Films, winner, Silver Remi Award, WorldFest Houston), Freedom and Unity: The Vermont Movie (Upper Valley Arts, forthcoming in 2013), and work for the Student Conservation Association.
Gibbons is a co-founder and principal writer for Red Heart the Ticker, an indie-folk band that tours nationally, has appeared on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion, has garnered praise from The New York Times, Pitchfork Media and Paste Magazine, and has been profiled on NPR's Weekend Edition. He has also done extensive sound work on documentary and feature films, including Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai (Marlboro Films, winner, Audience Award, Hotdocs Festival), and The Class Divide (Ames Hill Productions /Dartmouth College), as well as studio engineering (The Criterion Collection, Beth Orton, Sam Amidon) and sound design for theater. Gibbons has played bass in concert for such disparate acts as jazz luminary Shelia Jordan and American Idol's Bo Bice, and he currently teaches music classes at the Putney School in Putney, Vermont, and songwriting workshops around the country.

Teaching:
Gibbons teaches songwriting and music appreciation in both academic and workshop settings. He has given lectures and workshops at numerous universities, writing programs and conferences, including Dartmouth College, Bennington College, the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Vermont College of Fine Arts, and Keene State College. In addition, Gibbons teaches Songwriting and Encountering Music at the Putney School in Putney, Vermont.
